Job Title: Scientist, Systems Engineer
Job Location: Aurora, CO
L3Harris' Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Scientist, Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Aurora, Colorado. The individual will be embedded at a customer site and work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting. Candidate will be part of a team integrating, testing, and deploying the next generation operational control segment intended to command, control and navigate the current and future generation(s) Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite constellation for the United State Air Force.
Hands-on software integration - Running critical, Navigation (PNT) Mission functional threads in an Operations-like, integrated environment to facilitate discovery, diagnosis, and resolution of issues and/or defects. Initially, position may involve software defect resolution to gain system familiarity. Successful integrator has a demonstrated ability to:
• Collaborate with both co-located and remote teammates
• Systematically investigate technical problems of varying complexity
• Dive into unfamiliar areas and learn quickly
• Diagnose and fix issues with web services, messaging, database, and web applications
• Take initiative, own tasks and drive them to completion
• Communicate clearly and proactively, both in writing and orally
• Prioritize and make progress on multiple tasks
• Be motivated to achieve challenging goals
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience as a systems engineer
12+ years of experience with Requirements flow down / allocation/ tracking / analysis / verification
Ideal candidate has a strong software background, including Java, C++, python coding or integration experience
Active Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience in at least one of the following areas:
Satellite payload or ground system design
SOA integration, JMS messaging
User Interface (UI) testing
Oracle Weblogic application server
Java, J2EE web, C++ applications
Oracle database, JDBC, SQL
SOAP Web Services, use of SoapUI
IBM ClearCase, JIRA
Linux command line, Python
Excellent communication and writing skills
Ability to work closely with other disciplines
Experience in risk management
Experience with project management
