The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System supports the latest generation of U.S., European and Japanese polar-orbiting satellites designed to monitor global environmental conditions and collect and disseminate data related to weather, atmosphere and oceans. As system engineer you will support the C3S Enterprise on the JPSS program. The C3S tools give crews keen insight, comprehensive operational oversight, detailed mission planning capability, full control of space and ground assets, continuous monitoring and assessment of overall system performance and security. As a system engineer you will create/maintain requirements area and support the design and deployment of a heterogeneous mix of computing hardware / software platforms including servers, workstations and numerous COTS and custom software applications. You will be part of an amazing engineering team developing requirements in various focus areas, and to support infrastructure designs (OS, Networks, Storage) for upcoming efforts. Responsibilities include: Writing/Understanding System level requirements Assisting the team with infrastructure design tasks Meeting with vendors and discussing HW and SW solutions Creating Bill of Materials Following procurement processes Decomposing requirements to help develop solutions for the customer Updating and Creating Hardware drawings Providing inputs to design review presentation packages Providing inputs to program schedules Providing inputs for Engineering Estimates Providing inputs needed to procure HW and SW solutions Documenting and following processes Clearance requirement: US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Required Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills: 2 years of related work experience Experience with the decomposition of system requirements Familiarity with Infrastructure design, development and procurement, Experience interfacing with vendors to develop solutions, Researching HW and SW solutions Familiarity with creating hardware drawings and Bill of materials. Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) to access government systems Background in Windows server /workstation and/or Linux System Administration. Experience with installation of various COTS products Ability to document software, hardware and service solutions to meet customer objectives Utilize hands-on integration of various hardware and software products. Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance and US Citizenship required Desired Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills: Experience with Vmware Solid understanding of storage and networks Experience with Drawing products such as Visio and AutoCAD Education Requirements: Requires a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Technology, general Engineering or Mathematics degree Our facility in Aurora, CO offers amenities that create work and life balance.
