E Source provides independent research, information, advisory, and consulting services to utilities and other key players in the energy marketplace. Our mission is to increase the effectiveness of our customers’ operations, programs, and customer relationships.
We’re looking for an associate analyst, focusing on distributed energy resources (DERs), to join our Customer Energy Solutions department. The ideal candidate is expected to support the research director in providing E Source members with action-oriented high-quality market research, expert advice, best-practice research content, and events related to DERs. Our members consist of more than 100 electric and gas utilities across the US and Canada.
Key areas of responsibility
Understand the intersection of DERs and demand-side management (DSM)
Develop and maintain expertise in the DER field that increases the effectiveness of our customers’ strategic planning efforts, programs, and customer relationships
Answer E Source customers’ questions, both as the lead and in coordination with other internal research teams and subject-matter experts
Support the research director and market research team in the development of customer market research and utility benchmarking efforts, including questionnaire development and data analysis
Research and write reports in formats ranging from short two-page documents to in-depth benchmarking studies. These reports will focus on customer market research and industry best practices.
Form, cultivate, and manage deep relationships with E Source’s utility customers
Assist with ongoing customer engagement, training, and education, including proactive communications on pertinent topics
Help develop customer engagement materials, including customer newsletters, FAQs, and quarterly updates
Foresee member needs and proactively address them
Support business development efforts through networking and content demos
Manage workload independently
Contribute to events and research deliverables produced by other research teams as requested
Adhere to E Source quality standards, budget, and timelines
Collaborate with colleagues
Bachelor’s degree in energy, environment, public policy, engineering, economics, market research, or related field preferred; graduate degree a plus
At least two years of relevant industry or professional experience
Market research experience a plus
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in standard business software
Public speaking experience preferred
