Northrop Grumman Engineer Quality 3/4 in Boulder, Colorado

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located inColorado and will support campuses in Aurora, Boulder and Colorado Springs.

This position requires collaboration skills to successfully coordinate with a variety of functional areas (Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Program Mission Assurance) to successfully support delivery of Quality products to a number of programs across the Strategic Force Programs, Remote Sensing Programsand Integrated National Systems Business Units. Define and monitor supplier quality program requirements and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Anticipate supplier and subcontractor nonconformance through risk analysis and plan for prevention and mitigation. Review contract requirements relative to regulatory flow down with consideration of current business practices. Contribute to quarterly Supplier Assessment Management System (SAMS) assessments. Investigates supplier quality problems, issues, and failures through root cause investigation and corrective action implementation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Collaborate with the program office to ensure clear Supplier Quality scope of work definition and cost control accountability

Partner with Engineering, Global Supply Chain, and the Program office to drive strategic supplier selection early in program lifecycle.

Assess supplier quality risk, and develop effective and affordable risk mitigation approaches that ensure effective sourcing strategies with capable suppliers and fit program risk profile.

Analyze customer Mission Assurance and Quality requirement.s Ensure the Quality section within the supplier SOW is aligned to Sector/Customer contractual requirements.

Plan and implement Quality Assurance actions for hardware and software suppliers, for example: Spec compliance reviews, readiness reviews, in-process, First Article and final inspections.

Audit suppliers' selection processes of third party manufacturers, and suppliers' processes for managing sub-tier supplier quality performance.

Drive supplier performance through metrics; developing, collecting, analyzing and presenting supplier metrics to support the division Supplier Quality, Mission Assurance and Global Supply Chain teams.

Monitor quality control activities at supplier and subcontractor facilities.

Assure that suppliers' products and services adhere to customer quality-imposed technical requirements and processes and the suppliers maintain a quality system.

Ensure Root Cause and Corrective Actions address documented supplier nonconformance and are validated for the effectiveness.

Conduct projects designed to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation.

Ensure deviation/ variance investigations are performed with appropriate Subject Matter Experts. Creating the applicable documentation to record the deviation/variance and collaborate with engineering functions to ensure all actions are completed in a timely manner.

Coordinate with Program Mission Assurance to ensure timely complete response to Sentinel alerts.

Ensures monthly supplier assessments are completed in the Quality Assessment Framework and the Return to Green plans are in place when appropriate.

Ensures quarterly supplier evaluations are completed on time and entered into the SAMS database along with return to green plans when applicable.

This position may be filled at a level 3 or a level 4.

MAQEA

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering and/or applicable STEM Degree.

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Quality Engineer OR a master's degree in STEM field with 3 years of experience working as a Quality Engineer.

  • Demonstrated direct application of supplier quality management and control on hardware and/or software development, and production program as Sub-Contracts, Engineering, and/or Quality Engineer.

  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and evaluate new processes/procedures with minimal supervision.

  • Experience selecting and coordinating key metrics and subsequently presenting meaningful data for project review, and ability to generate and analyze quantitative data.

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills and confidence to brief upper management.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive risk mitigation, opportunity capture, and issues resolution across all stakeholder disciplines throughout all phases of the product development lifecycle on a fast paced, complex, dynamic, high visibility program.

  • Familiarity with hardware and/or software development, and production programs.

  • Ability to travel out of state occasionally

  • Active TS SCI clearance

Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering and/or applicable STEM Degree.

  • 9+ years of experience working as a Quality Engineer OR a master's degree in STEM field with7+ years of experience working as a Quality Engineer.

  • Demonstrated direct application of supplier quality management and control on hardware and/or software development, and production program as Sub-Contracts, Engineering, and/or Quality Engineer.

  • Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn, assess, and evaluate new processes/procedures with minimal supervision.

  • Experience selecting and coordinating key metrics and subsequently presenting meaningful data for project review, and ability to generate and analyze quantitative data.

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills and confidence to brief upper management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hardware and software quality background

  • SAP Business System experience

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification

  • Experience with capacity analysis tools helpful

  • Experience with measurement analysis methods

  • Experience in drawing interpretation to ANSI Y14.5

  • Experience with Ground Station software quality a plus
