The Public Service Sector consulting practice is a trusted advisor to federal, state and local governments, partnering to meet challenges and responding quickly to citizen demands, business needs, new economic conditions, and changing legislative priorities and policies.

This position is for a Linux System Administrator to support high availability production systems in a Federal security compliant data center. You will assist in technical engineering programs to implement and maintain operations support tools. You will work closely with network, application, and middleware teams to support Linux based product installations, customizations, and deployments. You will be responsible for all aspects of Linux support including software updates and upgrades, backup and recovery, performance management and capacity planning for the Linux environment. Work will be performed out of the Boulder, Colorado or RTP, NC IBM location. While there is minimal/no travel with this position, you are unable to deny travel should it come up. A willingness to travel 100%, even though that’s not the case, is required.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of experience installing, configuring, and managing Linux Servers, especially RedHat, in a Enterprise Environment.

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux system monitoring which includes reviewing system and application logs to troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware related problems.

  • 3+ years of working knowledge of OS security best practices and experience with the Secure Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) process.

  • 3+ years of experience applying and maintain operating system patches.

  • 3+ years of experience deploying and managing logical volume manager and multipathing.

  • 3+ years of experience writing shell scripts to incorporate automation in to day to day activities.

  • 3+ years of experience with setup and troubleshooting network, DNS, and NTP Position also requires.

  • Able to obtain federal secret level security clearance.

  • Off-shift work that includes evenings, weekends, and on-call support.

  • Proactively monitoring a Incident and Task Ticketing Queue.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Current Top Secret level security clearance

  • Project Management or management of technical projects Display excellent teamwork skills, written and oral communication skills, and formal documentation skills.

  • Experience With:

  • Oracle Solaris

  • AIX

  • Virtual infrastructure (i.e. VMWare)

  • Puppet Enterprise and creating Puppet Modules

  • IBM BigFix, Solarwinds, and ServiceNow

  • Backup and Restore experience

  • IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Azure

  • Kubernutes and Docker

  • Web servers, databases, clustering, networks, cabling, new installations and migrations, and security scanning tools.

  • Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+ CompTIA Linux+ or RHCSA

  • AWS SysOps Associate
