Pfizer Manager, Scientific Software Solutions in Boulder, Colorado

ROLE SUMMARY

The Scientific Software Solutions Manager will play a leading role in the implementation, management and support of the scientific informatics portfolio enabling Pfizer's R&D laboratories in Boulder, CO.

This position will partner with Boulder scientists spanning multiple drug discovery disciplines, ensuring that their Digital needs are met.

A scientific background and/or previous experience with chemistry and biology experiments and data, combined with solid technical skills, will be key to success in this role.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that the new PerkinElmer Signals suite (ELN, Screening and Lead Discovery) is optimally delivering value to Pfizer Boulder scientists by:

  • Creating, maintaining and supporting experimental data workflows

  • Curating data in the system

  • Managing user accounts, access, privileges, etc.

  • Creating and delivering training materials, technical system knowledge articles, work instructions, etc.

  • Maintain and support legacy software solutions used by Pfizer Boulder scientists and identify opportunities to migrate to and integrate with Pfizer global systems.

  • Collaborate with Scientists, Client Partners, and Solution Engineers to deliver scientific software solutions that streamline workflows and enable decision making in drug discovery and development.

  • Manage project delivery, guide the work of other technical resources (FTE or contractor), and advocate for Agile and DevOps methodologies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, information technology, bioinformatics or related fields, or demonstrable equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical or life science industry experience.

  • Experience with Perkin Elmer's Research Suite: Signals Electronic Laboratory Notebook, Signals Screening, Signals Lead Discovery or equivalent technologies.

  • Programming skills in Python, Java, JavaScript, SQL, NoSQL, or other languages.

  • Experience with HPC and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP and Azure

  • Demonstrated ability to act independently, proactively identify problems, troubleshoot issues, and develop potential solutions with innovative approaches.

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Must contribute to a team based, collaborative and positive environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in a field relevant to the role.

  • Experience in life science informatics.

  • Laboratory experience, preferably in the general areas of biology or chemistry

  • Demonstrated ability to develop competency in new technology and areas of science relevant to drug discovery.

  • Demonstrated ability to actively lead and collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $84,800 to $141,300. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 12.50% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
