Capella Space RF / Radio / RADAR Design Engineer in Boulder, Colorado

Capella Space is looking for a RF / Radio / RADAR engineer to work with our radar and spacecraft teams to design, implement, test, and field both RADAR and communications hardware. The successful candidate will be somebody who can work independently as well as in small teams, can lead the design process, and is able to work across domains.

Requirements

Required Skills

  • Clear understanding of RF component specifications and capable of working with antenna and system engineers to design, simulate, and test RADAR & communications systems

  • Familiar with microwave transceiver architectures for RADAR & communications

  • Clear understanding of fundamentals of RF implementation, and basic building blocks, including LNAs, filters, mixers, couplers, VCOs, DCOs, LOs and

  • Familiar with digital control protocols such as I2C, SPI, MIPI, UDP, and TCP/IP.

  • Familiar with digitally controlled analog devices such as DACs and ADCs

  • Familiarity with modulation & encoding schemes for communication systems (such as QPSK, DVB-S2, etc...)

  • Clear understanding of noise, matching, linearity, and other device characteristics

  • Familiar with mixed signal mode verification

  • Basic software skills for testing & verification

Desired Skills (we really mean desired, not required)

  • Experience in FPGA development in support of RADAR & Communications systems

  • Experience/familiarity with simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, or GRASP/CHAMP

  • Background in space based or airborne systems

US Citizen or permanent residency (Green Card) required
