Job Summary

We are looking for a Sr. Business Analyst to join Vail Resorts’ rapidly growing Enterprise Data Warehouse group. This Business Analyst will be part of a team of IT subject matter experts responsible for delivering high-impact BI and Data Warehouse solutions.

This Sr. BA will drive data integrations for with our internal Finance partners to enable daily reporting and analysis. They will work with business and IT management to understand and prioritize, data and reporting requirements. We are looking for a candidate with a proven ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, and a passion for implementing BI and Analytics solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business partners to define and document business requirements

  • Work with solution architect to convert approved business requirements into functional/technical specifications to be handed off to development staff.

  • Define success criteria, create and execute test plans for Data Quality Assurance

  • Conduct ad-hoc data exploration and research on net-new source systems and existing applications to support feasibility analyses

  • Act as intermediary to simplify complex technical concepts into easy to understand business language.

  • Facilitate System Testing and User Accepting Testing with developers and testers – Identify, document and track issues through resolution.

  • Work with Project Managers with assessing project level of effort, resource planning, risk management and scope containment.

  • Provide operational support for production issues arising in the EDW & Planful Data ecosystems. Work with various IT teams to troubleshoot issues

  • Assess severity/priority of production issues, determine business impact and communicate progress during resolution.

  • Work with business and IT partners to understand different approaches to delivering data with multiple Analytics and Reporting tools.

  • Work with outside vendors to source data from 3rd party tools into the Data Warehouse or desired platform.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of demonstrated business analysis experience, delivering cross functional projects

  • Ability to coordinate and lead peers through requirements, design and testing process

  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills; comfortable speaking with and translating between technical and non-technical team members at all levels of the organization

  • Strong SQL skills

  • Strong documentation skills

  • Keen attention to detail, ensuring high data quality

  • Experience with Financial Planning Tools – Planful, Anaplan, Prophix, Vena Solutions, etc.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects as well as application maintenance tasks

  • Experience delivering projects using SDLC. Exposure to both Waterfall and Agile methodologies is preferred.

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment, comfortable with shifting priorities

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance or related concentration

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with Analytics tools – SSAS, SSRS, SAS, Tableau, Alteryx

  • Strong Excel skills – Macros, VBA, Advanced Formulas

  • Experience with ERP & Procurement Tools – Oracle PeopleSoft, Coupa, Concur

  • Awareness of Cloud Tools and Data platforms – AZURE, Snowflake, AWS

  • PMI-BA or IIBA, or other accredited Business Analysis coursework is a plus

The budgeted range starts at $85,000 - $113,000 + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
