Physical and/or Other Specific Requirements: This position allows for 100% telework, however, if the successful candidate resides outside the Denver Metro area and telecommutes full time, the individual will need to make four, one-week visits to the Centennial/Denver Project Office per year at her/his own expense.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

  • Vision: Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

  • Mission: To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) operates and maintains three geographically remote research stations: McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station, several deep field sites and Research Vessels covering Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Each station or field site and Research Vessel supports world-class research in the Antarctic.

Specifically, the Peninsula Area consists of Palmer Station and the two Research Vessels the RV/IB Nathaniel B. Palmer and ARSV Laurence M. Gould. The research vessels provide both logistical support to Palmer Station as well as research platforms for work throughout the Southern Ocean and beyond.

Job Description:

The position is located at the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) Project Office in Centennial, Colorado. The Peninsula Area Business Analyst reports to the Research Vessel Manager. This person will provide vital support to the Peninsula area assisting with the development of vessel budgets and deployment plans. Duties will include gathering and maintaining a repository of Marine data as well as analyzing Marine planning effectiveness, including metrics and deliverables, staff deployments, hours and costs. This person will be critical to lead and support change initiatives in business processes within the Peninsula Area including Marine and Palmer Station to support/participate in continuous improvement activities. The individual will work closely with Peninsula Area Management to participate in the SharePoint site administration to improve collaboration and keep schedules maintained in Primivera P6.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting the development of research vessel planning and provide associated cost estimates to support development of the Annual Program Plan (APP) budget and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

  • Working with and improving existing planning tools.

  • Data tracking and analysis of a wide variety of activities including science operations, safety, training, research vessel usage and program efficacy for reporting to the Research Vessel Manager and Peninsula Area Manager.

  • Supporting Research Vessel Manager in tracking and management of vessel charters.

  • Integrating Peninsula operations with planned science including annual training and travel plans with ASC Travel for Peninsula Area personnel.

  • Tracking Peninsula performance to plans – staff deployments, vessel/Station expenses and vessel schedules.

  • Liaison with Science Planners and the Planning and Controls teams.

  • Supporting development of single ship operations plans and documentation aligning vessel planning with logistics support of Palmer Station.

  • Executing other administrative/analysis assignments as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience

  • Experience leading change efforts and projects and implementing new systems or processes

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse personnel and dynamic teams

  • Meeting management skills

  • Proficiency with scheduling and budget tracking

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, and Power BI

  • Experience working with integrated master schedules

  • Involvement with support of international programs and remote sites, especially in Antarctica

  • Knowledge of marine operations
