We are seeking someone to bring JHU/APL's technicaldiscipline and culture to our sponsors' development environment and bringoperational expertise and domain knowledge back to Laurel. After the initialappointment, there would be a transition to work at the Laurel, MDcampus, and there may also be other potential efforts through the APL fieldoffice in Colorado Springs.As a Communications Software Engineer, your role will work on-site with the sponsor to provide technical recommendationsto develop and integrate software solutionsto evaluate techniques to address specific unique sponsor-identified missionneeds in collaboration with the development teams in Laurel, MDYou meet our minimum requirements if you have....A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering orrelated disciplines.5 years of strong software development experience, including proficiency inC and/or Java.Strong analytical and problem solving skills.Experience with the Agile development process and source version controlsystems (e.g., Gitlab).The ability to work in a dynamic environment that includes working withchanging needs and requirements.Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, work asa team player and work closely with sponsors.Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent organizationalskills.Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subjectto a government security clearance investigation and must meet therequirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirementsinclude U.S. citizenship.You will go above and beyond our qualifications if you have:A Master's degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering orrelated disciplines.10 years of strong software development experience, including C , Java,GPU programming, and/or real-time embedded software engineering.Experience with software-defined radio (SDR) solutions and/or specifiedradio frequency (RF) communication systems, protocols, and networks.Domain knowledge in processes, systems, platforms, and sensors used bythe US military and intelligence community.Base pay will take into account the selected candidate's knowledge,experience, skill and/or abilities with consideration for internal parity.APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policyand/or contractual designation.
