The Director, Content & Product Development position exists to provideleadership, direction, and strategicoversightof theContent & Product Developmentdepartment and direct the Focus on the Family Associates Program. This position shall carry the responsibility and direct authority, at the direction of the VP, Content Development over, the development and execution ofContent & Product Developmentstrategies and initiatives, which position Focus on the Family as a trusted and established organization for book publishing, films, radio theater, and magazines. As a leadership role, this position is responsible for coordinating with all stakeholders in content-related projects to align content and product strategy and initiatives with the overall ministry goals and objectives.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Works closely with, and reports to, the Vice President ofContent & Product Developmentto set the priorities for the resource needs, which address both short and long term Key Ministry Initiatives and Outcomes, and makes recommendations/ plans for how to address them
Provides strategic planning expertise in support of the development ofContent & Product Developmentstrategy and business plans, annual ministry targets, and the department goals
Provides strategic direction and oversight of the Focus on the Family Associates Program, providing new content for the ministry’s initiatives
Provides high-level oversight for specific programs and projects. Assists in setting strategies, priorities, goals, and limits for project work.
Assists in developing the annual programmatic budget and monitors the monthly expenditures to ensure budget compliance
Provides creative input to all content projects along with the other Content Development Directors
Provides oversight and direction to any Program Supervisors and Managers within the program and may delegate projects to other team members
Gathers, analyzes, and reports on program measurements and objectives, with recommendations as required
Consults with the ministry’s legal staff and the orthodoxy team as appropriate, related to project development
Works in conjunction with the Vice President of Content & Product Development to assist in the crafting of content and product initiatives as needed, and to ensure strategic alignment and integration with the overall FOF ministry strategy
Works with theVice President of Content & Product Developmentin translating the understanding of an audience and their needs into meaningful programs, content, and trans-media channels, etc.
Serves as primary interface / contact point with other audience owners and groups within Focus on the Family when these strategies cross multiple internal ministries. Partners with other audience owners and ministries to establish a cross-divisional, cohesive approach to issues and influence initiatives related to the audience. Will represent the Vice President of Content & Product Development’s directives at team meetings as required
Helps to educate the organization on the trends, characteristics, and needs of Focus on the Family’s target audience for resources and products to help families thrive
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, wireless, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:
Manages a team of indirect reports and be the primary contact with outside contractors as designated by the Vice President of Content & Product Development
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Office environment, with occasional travel required

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, marketing, publishing, or other related discipline preferred
7-10 years of professional experience with evidence of increasing responsibility
2-4 years of direct experience in new business development and project management
5 years of project management or similar function
Thorough understanding of Focus on the Family mission, philosophy, values, and objectives

Stewardship Requirements:
GOA Level “B” (Director)
Salary Range:$71,070 to $86,984/yr.
