The successful candidate will report to the Vice President of Strategic Force Programs (SFP) Business Unit of the Space Systems Sector, and serve as a key member of the Business Unit's leadership team. This position's primary responsibility is leading the Space Surveillance & Environmental Intelligence (SSEI) Operating Unit to meet performance and organizational effectiveness objectives. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices. The Director also serves as a senior Payload & Ground Systems (PGS) Division representative on the Colorado Springs campus and the Site Manager for the Northrop Grumman COCO1 facility.

In addition, the successful candidate is responsible for establishing and directing strategies for the long-term achievement of profitable/sustainable growth, expanding markets, building customer relationships and working across the broader Northrop Grumman Corporation to create collaborative offerings that drive market differentiation. This position will be responsible for guiding a business development team to create a robust pipeline of new business opportunities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the day-to-day effective operations of the operating unit's various teams located in multiple geographic areas and for creating a cohesive team across the entire unit. The Director must ensure effective communications across the operating unit, and establish and effectively convey the OU's clearly-defined vision, goals and objectives. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of DoD and restricted customer communities, program management skills, proven strategic planning and business execution capabilities, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across the enterprise.

  • Develop and execute the OU strategies for growth and market expansion

  • Serve as the Program Review Authority for the OU's portfolio of contracts

  • Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of OU portfolio

  • Responsible for contractual and business actions within the OU's delegated area of responsibility, chair ECP or new business signoffs in different capture activities and/or in preparation of proposals

  • Serve as the Program Review Authority for the OU's portfolio of contracts: provide oversight of program execution; engage in helping resolve difficult challenges, review business activities, monitor program milestones and adherence to master plans and schedules.

  • Actively engage the OU's full spectrum of customers across the DoD and Intelligence Communities

  • Manage and monitor the working of the various functional organizations supporting the Operating Unit

  • Continuously improve the operational systems, processes and policies in support of the organizations mission - includes management reporting, information flow and management, business development process and organizational planning

  • Chair and support the various internal and external program reviews throughout the organization

  • Provide programmatic and organizational leadership to all levels of the organization

  • Conduct regular meetings with team to discuss issues, concerns and resolution

  • Oversee facility management of COCO1, to include space utilization and expansion

  • Participate in Colorado Springs community outreach and actively engage in the Colorado 1NG initiative to foster a common corporate brand to state and local activities

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering, Operations or related technical/management field

  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering, program management and/or operations combined experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical/program management or business development positions

  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

  • Current TS/SCI Clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning ability

  • Master of Business Administration

  • Existing or prior relationships or business interfacing with USAF Space and Missile Command and/or National Security Space customers

  • Proven ability to ensure an organization's vision and objectives are clearly defined and communicated

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style

  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, diverse environment with geographically disparate teams

  • Proven experience in growing a business portfolio

  • Work in closer partnership with all functional areas to achieve the operating unit goals

  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view

  • Delegates responsibilities effectively

  • Persuasive with details and facts
