Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented DTS SimStim Linux System Administrator to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. Maintain operation of Linux computer systems, including coordination with other system and network administration staff and program teams. Monitor and manage system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency. Perform systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts. Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Interact with users and evaluates vendor products. Coordinate installations and provides backup recovery. Develop and monitor Department of Defense (DoD), facility specific policies, procedures and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
In addition to the SA duties, candidate may be required to perform as part of a crew supporting daily training operations
Operations support include:
Provide a daily training opportunity for Warfighters by operating the Distributed Training System Simulation & Stimulation (DTS Sim/Stim) that interfaces with the Command Control Battle Management Communications system (C2BMC) and the Ground Based Mid-course Defense (GMD) Systems Trainer (GST). This position must also coordinate a variety of issues to include starting and stopping training events with Warfighters and coordinating daily activities with DTS teammates to include personnel operating C2BMC, GST, and other internal and external elements as required. All operations must be recorded in an events log and consistent metrics must be maintained. Operator must be able to work well within a small team of two to four personnel. A training program is provided but does not cover every situation therefore, the operator must be able to overcome obstacles. DTS is expected to operate three shifts across days, swings, & mids during a Mon – Fri work week. Candidate must be willing and able to work off hour shifts as part of a scheduled crew rotation between days and nights. Time may be flexed to accommodate pay schedules but normally would not exceed 40 hrs per week. There may be occasions when the normal scheduled operating times may vary and occasional weekends may be required based on the needs of the Warfighter and the availability of resources. The individual will work closely with a mission-focused team that plans, conducts, and supports missile defense training events for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), the Warfighter, and other missile defense stakeholders. Some events may feature Warfighter Operator-In-The-Loop (OITL) participation, and include developmental missile defense system elements or simulations.
Candidate must posses a Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 2+ years of applicable experience.
The candidate must be able to install, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain computers and network equipment. Must have the ability to build Linux systems, both physical and virtual.
Must have experience with RHEL System Administration and Operating System patching support.
Must have at least one Linux certification (e.g. Linux+, LPIC, RHCSA, RHCE).
Currently possess a CompTIA Security+ certification or be able to obtain it within 6 months of hire at no cost to the government.
Experience working with VMWare ESXi virtualized environments.
Possess a working knowledge of DoD security policies and procedures. Knowledge of missile defense concepts of operation, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and Integrated Missile Defense (IMD) system architectures.
Previous experience with the Missile Defense Agency, operations center, or a ballistic missile defense system such as (GFC or C2BMC).
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
