The Hosting Administrator 3 position exists to support ministry objectives by designing, building, and supporting secure and scalable application environments; and by installing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring enterprise and web applications across environments, ensuring capacity, availability, and performance in accordance with agreed upon service levels.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

All Hosting Administrators are responsible for performing the listed core responsibilities. The Hosting Administrator 3 is expected to have an intermediate understanding of and ability to perform those responsibilities. Additionally, the Hosting Administrator 3mayact in a time-limited Architecture Coach role, as either primary or secondary.

Core Responsibilities:

Works on one or more products or projects as an Agile team member

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of hosted applications and their hosting environment/architecture, including their functionality, integrations, and/or interfaces. Maintains skills and process knowledge necessary to support such applications and environments

Designs and builds secure, performant and scalable hosting and application environments according to technical requirements and in collaboration with their team, the Enterprise Architect and the architecture chapter. Documents these environments as appropriate

Implements, configures, updates, and maintains web and enterprise applications.Installs modules and features for COTS and proprietary software

Proactively monitors, maintains, configures, troubleshoots, and resolves hosting issues related to applications, integrations, and other technology as appropriate.Tunes, optimizes, and maintains applications in hosting environments

Analyzes risk levels and impact associated withexecuting installations, upgrades, enhancements, and configuration modifications within application hosting environments and takes appropriate action

Releases team and vendor code within an Agile/DevSecOps environment, leveraging virtualization and containerization as appropriate

Maintains and creates external DNS zones in support of hosting websites and web applications

Provides Level 3 support for hosting environments

Implements and reinforces IT Security policies and secure practices in all aspects of hosting

Maintains vendor relationships through regular communication and updates. Partners with vendors to troubleshoot and identify causes of reported issues and to implement bug fixes or system upgrades

Creates, maintains and follows quality, repeatable standards, processes and procedures, using automation whenever possible

Adheres to procedures for ITIL’s Incident Management, Problem Management, Release Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management

Expands knowledge of changing technologies and assists with recommendations for implementation and adaptation of new technologies

Mentors other hosting administrators and team members as appropriate

May assist the Director with initial rounds of interviewing, including phone screens, first interviews, and the creation and proctoring of coding tests

May provide hosting leadership to a Scrum team, including coordinating and leading appropriate Communities of Practice, coding dojos, etc.

May be part of the department leadership team, providing specialized feedback, advice, insight, and guidance to the Director as appropriate

Architecture Coach Role:

Collaboratively participates in and champions the direction, creation, maintenance, implementation and communication of the ministry’s software application, systems and process architecture and related standards, with an emphasis on the appropriate competency area, along with one’s team, the Enterprise Architect/Coach and other department members in the Architecture Coach role

Collaboratively works with members in the Architecture Coach role of the same competency area to recommend architectural standards for that area

Consults and collaboratively works with one’s team and other teams on the application of architectural standards for specific projects or products

Provides input for tool selection and standards to leadership to help inform the overall technology architecture

As a servant leader, trains and coaches members of one’s team on ministry application and systems architecture standards. Trains and coaches

others to be able to step into the Architecture Coach role

May stand in for the Enterprise Architect/Coach, when appropriate

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

On-call to provide after-hours and weekend support when necessary

Participates in on-going training activities

Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related field, or equivalent experience

5-7 years of experience building and maintaining multiple enterprise level application hostingenvironments, as well as maintaining, configuring and monitoring enterprise applications

5-7 years of experience building and managing multiple large presence (n-tier) websitehosting environments, including managing and administering web applications on variousserver platforms

Intermediate knowledge of Web and Application hosting security

Intermediate knowledge and proven experience working with Linux operating systems

Intermediate knowledge and proven experience working with IIS 10, Windows Server 2016Intermediate knowledge of configuring, and maintaining applications on F5 Big IP ADCs

Intermediate and proven experience hosting and hardening LEMP environments

Intermediate experience with ITIL and utilizing ITIL processes

Intermediate understanding of networks and network configuration with regards to hosting environment dependencies

CompTIA Security+ Certification

Intermediate experience with Agile software development methodologies

Intermediate knowledge with PowerShell Scripting

Intermediate experience with Bash, SED, AWK scripting

Intermediate experience with Content Management System (CMS) platforms, including,

Sitecore and WordPress
