Title:

Information Assurance Engineer

Be part of a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team supporting rapid and innovative prototype development of warfighting capabilities that increase lethality, survivability, and warfighter effectiveness. As a member of the team you will integrate with cross-functional teams to conduct research, design, development, prototyping, systems engineering, integration, testing and evaluation, transitioning, and training across multiple technology areas to include: Geolocation and Tagging, Tracking, Locating; Sensor, Data Fusion, and Dissemination; Unconventional / Asymmetric Warfare / Support to Special Operations; Situational Awareness; Cyberspace and Spectrum Warfare Operations; Air Superiority; Command, Control and Spectrum Utilization; Real-Time/Near Real Time Large Data Analytics and Virtualization. Projects in the portfolio will range in quantity, scope, duration, and complexity. Projects are designed to transition to warfighters and/or national intelligence agencies for operational use, sustainment and appropriate acquisition Programs of Record for further development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, test, and documentation of the information system; these activities contribute to the Information System Security Assessment and Authorization (A&A) practices that in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) are current and effective which will result in an Authorization to Operate (ATO).

  • Gathers and organizes technical information about the organization’s mission goals and needs and then implements the development, implementation, and enforcement of information security standards and procedures and ensures that all information systems are correctly operating in regard to security policy.

  • Ensure RMF requirements are established

  • Write, review, and make recommendations regarding cybersecurity policies, self-assessment reviews, security test and evaluation reports, and security engineering processes and practices

  • Lead cybersecurity engineering tasks including policy development, risk assessment, for hands-on development and operation of information security applications while ensuring the security posture is maintained.

  • Activities will ensure that security policy and procedures are in compliance, perform technical vulnerability assessments, security product implementation, cyber threat assessments, while maintaining vigilance of persistent threats.

Additional duties include:

  • Provide analytical and technical security recommendations to team members, oversight boards, and clients

  • Assess the development of technology to automate the security monitoring, development, debugging, testing and support of the certification process

  • Implement and/or integrate security measures in information systems ensuring designs incorporate security configuration recommendations

  • Evaluate security requirements for assigned systems and facilities to ensure software releases and software development environments are capable of being accredited for processing at appropriate security classification levels

  • Ensure security features are built into the design architecture including identification, evaluation, and resolution of security technical and programmatic alternatives/issues for each system

  • Conduct analysis of current DoD information security architectures and report comparative assessments of alternate approaches

  • Function as the information systems security lead during security assessment and authorization evaluation events

  • Assist program managers and system owners in developing and maintaining POA&Ms and implementing mitigations for systems as required

  • Evaluate, integration, and accredit the use of cross-domain solutions to allow system owners to pass necessary data between enclaves of different classification levels

Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility (or higher) is required

  • Bachelor’s degree required with five (5+) years of experience; Master’s degree preferred

  • Certification: CISSP or other certification approved by DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, for IAT Level III

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Basic Compensation:

$ 64,400.00 - 96,800.00 USD Annual

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
