Apogee Engineering ITW/AA - Systems Analyst - Peterson AFB, CO in Colorado Springs, Colorado

The ITW/AA Systems Analyst supports for NORAD/J36 for warning and assessment of strategic maritime, missile, space and air attack on North America. The analyst provides technical support to all areas of ITW/AA operations and supports training for General Officer/Flag Officers (GO/FO) for assessing potential attacks and corresponding actions. The analyst will assist in the configuration management/change control oversight function coordinated by the Functional Managers at HQ NORAD and USSTRATCOM, while also investigating specific missile event anomalies and supporting the resolution of performance issues.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide technical support to all areas of ITW/AA operations, including technical support to the ITW/AA architecture, sensor systems, correlation center operations, forward user systems, communication nodes, missile assessment procedures, and Vol 6 Conferencing Procedures
  • Assist in sustaining, updating, and advancing ongoing ITW/AA studies, analysis, architecture, documentation, configuration control and information systems
  • Ensure strategic system meets all requirements of the National Command Authority and NORAD
  • Provide recommendations on the operational integration, configuration and updates to support the configuration control process of all existing and future ITW/AA, Space threat detection (SPADOC/JMS) Integrated Air and Missile Defense Systems (IAMD) and Ballistic Missile Defense Systems (BMDS)
  • Coordinate working groups to include the USSTRATCOM, co-chaired Operations Approval Board (OAB) and Mission Oversight Board (MOB)
  • Coordinate ITW/AA Command and Control Change Control Management in conjunction with USSTRATCOM, N2C2, and AFSPC AOs
  • Provide subject matter expertise support to the development and integration efforts with ITW/AA associated sensor development projects, command and control (C2) systems projects, and complimentary missile defense projects
  • Recommend and/or develop training scenarios to be used for GOFO-level assessor training and conduct training as required
  • Recommend upgrades to systems, alternate systems, and/or revise Tactics, Techniques & Procedures (TTP) to improve and clarify NORAD assessor capabilities
  • Maintain system expertise to include: Overhead Persistent Infrared Radar (OPIR), Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWR), Early Warning Radar (EWR), Army/Navy Transportable Phased Array Radar Surveillance systems (AN-TPY/2 and SPY-1), system processing centers such as the Mission Control Stations, Missile Warning Center, the N2C2, and N2C2 Alternate Command Center, the Global Operations Center, the Mobile Ground System, and the National Military Command Center
  • Attend meetings, working groups, and conferences as a technical advisor to the government representative
  • Provide After Action Reports, tracking of resultant action items, lessons learned and minutes relevant to meetings
  • Support brief preparation for all ITW/AA related working groups when N/J36 personnel are presenting

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required, with graduate degree preferred
  • Thorough understanding of the ITW/AA system-of-systems to include space-borne sensors, correlation center, forward users and all communication and data links
  • Must understand current NORAD N2C2 Missile and Space Domain (MSD) operations to include ITW/AA survivable and endurable requirements
  • Must understand the ITW/AA associations and integration with Space Catalog/Threat Detections Systems (SPADOC/JMS), BMDS sensors, C2 systems and Vol VI procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience with change control management, mission integrity & test control for the ITW/AA system
  • Proficiency with Task Management Tool (TMT) preferred
  • Must possess a TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility
  • May be read in on NATO COSMIC Top Secret material as required
