L3Harris Technologies has an opening for a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO and will be working onsite with a strategic partner. As a Lead, Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a Systems Engineering team in design, development, implementation, testing and analysis of Optical Systems sensors products and systems to support the vital missions of our warfighters. This position supports the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) division, a great team of talented professionals with world class technical expertise who take a collaborative approach to engineering and enjoy working together. In this position, you will bring your systems engineering background to a system engineering role where you can make a broad impact to programs and projects that are critical to our customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Systems engineering across the systems development lifecycle.

  • System requirements definition

  • Systems modeling

  • Systems design

  • Trade studies


  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • 9 plus years of engineering experience

  • 2 years experience with system and subsystem specification development

  • 2 years MBSE modeling/Magic Draw experience

  • 7 years of SE experience with systems development

  • 2 years experience with requirements development

  • Experience with DOORs administration

  • Hardware experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • DoD project experience

  • Experience using Agile methodologies

  • Ability to get Security + certification within 6 months of start

  • Ability to gain DoD TS Clearance

  • Graduate STEM degree

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role in Colorado is $99,500- $184,500 (salary ranges in other locations could differ). This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
