General tasks include:* working with SETI project integrators, SMDC G-6, and other networkowners to establish and maintain required network connections (e.g.,Defense Research Engineering Node, Battle Lab Collaborative SimulationEnvironment (BLCSE) Node, prototype network environments)* establishing the networking environment by designing system configuration,directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing systemstandards;* the design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience ofthe current environment;* maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshootingnetwork problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating withnetwork architects on network optimization;* undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide areaenvironments, using information from multiple sources;* securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, anddefining and monitoring access;* the support and administration of firewall environments in line with ITsecurity policy;* reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizinginformation and managing projects;* upgrading data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases;* configuration and monitoring of VPN connections;* the configuration of routing and switching equipment;* configuration of firewalls; RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, ComputerEngineering, Network Engineering or technical/related discipline and 3+years of experience in designing and delivering computer infrastructureand/or data center systems.CCNA, CCNP/CCSP, PCNSE or equivalent knowledge is a plus.
