Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Senior Specialist, Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain Java software thorough code inspection, data analysis, and document inspection

  • Support SCRUM team performance to met program milestones

  • Ensure build procedures used support software product development and reuse

  • Conduct design, unit test, integration test activities; document results and integrate software modules in local test facilities and at site facilities

  • Quickly read and understand code developed by others

  • Participate in meetings with the customer

  • Develop and maintain software on Unix-based and Windows operating systems

  • Travel < 25% for site integration and test support

  • Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6+ years of software engineering and development experience OR

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 4+ years of software engineering and development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security+ certification within 6 months of employment

  • Experience with Java application development (Eclipse, GUI/ services/IPCs /network messaging)

  • Experience with scripting programming languages such as bash, Perl, Python

  • Experience in engineering/reverse engineering/modelling (MagicDraw or equivalent) new and existing code

  • Experience with git Configuration Management tools

  • Experience with Apache Subversion Configuration Management tools

  • Experience with Jenkins, Artifactory/Nexus, Chef, Apache, SPLUNK, Puppet

  • Familiarity with static code analysis tools
