Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Ground Systems Engineer based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

What You'll get to Do:

  • The Ground Systems Engineer will provide real time, operational support to Air Force crews and contractor test teams for the operation and maintenance of system software and equipment (identifying system problems, trouble shooting, and correcting both software and hardware failures).

  • Utilize strong analytical and troubleshooting approach / skills as required. Perform software maintenance support for Linux, AIX, SGI, PC compatible computers, and associated switching, network, and communications circuits and equipment. Provide feedback to Software Depot on software problems.

  • Provide limited SYBASE system administration support for multiple system databases. Provide limited UNIX system administration support.

  • Participate in software version testing and evaluation and provides feedback to the development and test community.

  • Assist Configuration Management in software upgrades and changes. Document all software problems and follows up with accurate resolution. Interface with Air Force and contractor personnel to ensure proper operation of the SBIRS software and hardware and ensures the timely resolution to problems and/or deficiencies.

  • Maintain Access Control and works closely with System Administrators to ensure proper system operation and that problems are resolved with minimal downtime.

  • Provide maintenance and support for on-going systems, including monitoring of system performance and data backups.

  • Identify source of software problems and determines appropriate solutions.

  • Must be willing and able to work a shift schedule, which includes weekends and holidays supporting 24/7 operations.

  • The selected candidate will interface with the customer and contractor engineers concerning hardware and software installations, and developing briefings regarding system status and anomaly resolution on a regular basis. Candidate Must be able willing and able to travel.


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • General knowledge/skill of UNIX and/or LINUX, basic knowledge of software scripting

  • Must be willing and able to work a shift schedule, which includes weekends and holidays supporting 24/7 operations.

  • Ability to relay and receive information

  • Ability to work as a member of a team in a dynamic environment.

  • Candidate must have an active Top Secret security clearance and must be SCI eligible. Candidate must be able to maintain clearance.

  • Must be willing and able to work a shift schedule, which includes weekends and holidays supporting 24/7 operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Satellite Operations experience, C2 System Anomaly Resolution experience, Satellite Ground Systems operations experience, experience with SBIRS, DSP, GEO, HEO, AIX, LINUX, Shell Scripting, Perl, Python.

  • Security+CE Certification

  • Able to collaborate in a team environment
