Serves as a principal Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Planner within the assigned Regional SATCOM Support Center (RSSC) engaged in the day-to-day operational planning and management of wideband satellite resources.
Applies a broad technical knowledge of satellite communications systems and their relationship to other telecommunications networks, systems and equipment.
Has a broad knowledge of wideband satellite control procedures; and pertinent managerial and administrative skills and abilities.
Develops and prepares command policies, plans, objectives and requirements for the above communications systems and equipment.
Initiates actions in response to user requirements to establish, upgrade or phase out particular ground mobile force satellite systems and facilities under command control.
Participates in various meetings, panels, study groups, work groups and other planning activities at command and higher echelon levels to discuss plans, procedures, policies, and problems regarding assigned mission and functions.
Conditions of Employment
This position MAY be scheduled to transfer to the United States Space Force, in the Department of the Air Force, no later than 30 September 2022 in accordance with the provision of Section 1707 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020, Public Law 116-92. Upon transfer, employees will become Space Force employees, serviced by the Department of the Air Force. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower pay band or equivalent grade/level position in the federal
