Work as part of a team of experts and multi-disciplinary engineers in developing, applying, and evaluating state-of-the-art communications techniques and technologies. Candidates would make the following contributions:

  • postulate, develop, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art communications techniques for both RF and optical systems

  • conduct system level and component technical trades

  • conduct detailed modeling & simulation of communications channels, detection processes, modulation and demodulation techniques, error correction coding

  • develop and analyze requirements, specify RF and optical communications performance and interfaces

  • develop anti-jam, robust, resilient techniques and applications

  • develop technical white papers and briefings on communications system design and development issues

  • mature advanced concepts to high technology readiness

  • lead small technical teams.

Qualifications

The candidate shall have core skills in:

  • wireless communications & digital communications theory

  • error correction coding

  • spread spectrum & multiple access techniques

  • digital signal processing

  • computer analysis and simulation tools such as Matlab and STK

  • excellent written communication and presentation skills

  • interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, project leaders, team members, and contractors

The favored candidate shall have skills in:

  • estimation and detection theory

  • probability theory & stochastic processes

  • antenna design & propagation theory

  • some knowledge of orbital mechanics

  • software development, debugging, and support

  • BS in electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics and 1-5 years of related experience

  • Preferred MS or PhD in same disciplines
