Organizational Overview

SS&C ALPS is a leading Registered Fund Services provider in the financial services industry. Job Summary

A key member of Fund Accounting, this person will lead projects related to setting up new clients, setting up new products or services for existing clients, managing day to day systems and troubleshooting those systems and creating and implementing system improvements. Able to delegate, motivate and mentor, this person will also lead a small project team.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with Project Manager, project team members, and Subject Matter Experts, defines goals and scope of project, identifies available resources and forms a project plan.

  • Identifies key milestones and defines project requirements. Coordinates and documents procedures, timelines and project task lists maintaining project documentation and tracking project status.

  • Utilizes established project standards, procedures and quality objectives without requiring assistance from others. Participates in the development of processes and methodologies; teaming with clients and business analysts to deliver innovative solutions for business problems.

  • Directs the activities of project team members for the duration of the project. Sets project task goals, monitors work, clarifies priorities, and serves as key resource for project team members. Remains proactive regarding project issues, escalating when appropriate, and ensuring all problems are resolved in a satisfactory manner. Keeps project members motivated and focused, conveying a sense of accountability and commitment to clients and project goals. Will provide input regarding individual team member performance and act as mentor.

  • Provides the team with constructive feedback as it pertains to project performance. Uses lessons learned to identify potential areas of improvement.

  • Facilitates development of detailed test plans, cases, scripts, acceptance testing, implementation, training and service level agreements with the appropriate business units.

  • Proactively identifies and analyzes root causes to problem events and looks for patterns to identify opportunities for improvement. Reviews and documents systems problems and oversees testing for new programs. Shares best practices with other team members.

  • Communicates with management and team members regarding project progress and status of activities, including the preparation of project narratives and plans. Facilitates meetings with team members, delivering presentations as required. Conveys a strong sense of customer commitment and cross-functional awareness.

  • Participates in client meetings and conference calls.

  • Establishes and maintains positive business relationships with internal partners. Works in concert with these partners, gaining agreement and collaboration to ensure details are not overlooked and project and customer commitments are met.

  • Understands specific business lines within the industry. Uses informal networks, when necessary, to gain an understanding of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent experience in related field

  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience with Mutual Fund Accounting/Administration, including all aspects of Portfolio and GL recordkeeping and NAV calculation

  • General knowledge of relationships between Advisors, Portfolio Managers, Custodians, Transfer Agents and the Fund Accounting agents

  • Knowledge of or ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ideal candidate will have leadership ability or experience

  • Must have strong MS Office experience specifically Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Successful experience interfacing with internal and external clients

  • Make effective presentations and facilitate team and client meetings

  • Ability to motivate and influence others

  • Team building skills and an appreciate for ideas and participation of others

  • Creative problem solver

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. (This position is eligible to participate in a company bonus plan and stock program].
