Job Summary

The HRIS BI Solutions Developer / Designer is responsible for developing and enhancing HR custom applications, performing business analysis, quality assurance and ad-hoc reporting. This role will develop new applications using a number of development tools and is also responsible for developing complex reporting solutions, automated reporting, and dashboards. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success as a BI developer with the ability to translate requirements to development specifications and design/develop, identify data anomalies and represent specific information in a manner that provides insights to drive business change or transformation.

This position will be filled in Denver, Colorado.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert and designer in Cognos HR Insight. Designs and develops solutions that support the automation and standardization of HR data and reporting.

  • Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analyses in an effort to align data and information solutions with business/functional needs.

  • Workday reporting experience, with a solid understanding of Workday Report Writer, data sources, calculated fields; custom, matrix and composite reporting.

  • Provide training and tutorials across HR department and all lines of management that broaden internal knowledge of Workday Reporting and reinforce self-service functionality.

  • Automates regularly scheduled reports and develops ad-hoc reporting as required.

  • Understands the business implications of technical solutions, and assists in defining and documenting and developing the technology solutions to support future business needs.

  • Training end users on new reporting technologies and applications as well as providing support for existing systems.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across HR to gather and interpret requirements and develop requirements documentation.

  • Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations/ problems using multiple sources of information.

  • Responsible for data audits and resolving reporting issues.

  • Develop a significant understanding of the business and organization structure aligning data requests to business objectives.

  • Build and leverage strong partnerships across the technical and business community. Demonstrates a client services attitude and provides support to the business.

  • Promotes data governance and stewardship to improve overall data quality and leads/assists in managing the company’s workforce data.

  • Evaluates and translates end user needs and problems to technical teams where appropriate.

  • Design, develop and implement interactive analytic reports and dashboards.

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, business and client groups to ensure that operational business needs are met.

  • Support operational and strategic HR project initiatives as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of hands on HR Business Intelligence development experience using the Cognos toolsets (Cognos Report Studio, Metrics Studio and Framework development).

  • Experience developing complex BI reports for large user communities.

  • 2+ years of experience with Workday reporting, and/or other reporting technologies, a plus.

  • Knowledge of Historical Trending and Predictive analysis.

  • MS Access, VBA, SQL, .Net., web applications, SQL, XML or other applications skills desirable.

  • SQL, XML programming skills.

  • Knowledge of system development methodology, project management, data and system architecture

  • Analytical/problem solving skills.

  • Evaluates and translates end user needs and problems to technical teams where appropriate.

  • Broad knowledge of HR, Compensation,, Time & Attendance application solutions, with experience implementing and supporting SaaS or on-Premise solutions.

  • Test plan development with a strong end user testing ethic.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into functional requirements documentation.

  • Design, develop and implement interactive analytic reports and dashboards.

  • Extensive business analysis, analytical, organizational, database and data analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated understanding of project management including the ability to multitask to manage high-visibility, high-priority projects while meeting deadlines and strict data quality standards.

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, business and client groups to ensure that operational business needs are met.

  • Advanced skills in MS Office, including PowerPoint and Excel (formulas, pivot tables, v-lookup, macros, charts & graphs).

  • Exceptional problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with superior service delivery and client service mindset.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead efforts to standardize, optimize, and simplify reporting and processes.

  • Self-starter with ability to work on projects with minimum supervision

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cognos BI certification a plus.

  • Oracle Discoverer Query – Reporting and/or Tableau preferred but not necessary.

  • 2+ years of experience with Workday reporting, and/or other reporting technologies, a plus.

  • MS Access, VBA, SQL, .Net., web applications, SQL, XML or other applications skills desirable.
