Job Summary:

The Internal Auditor-Grants will monitor grant subrecipients for grants administered through the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education, including the Perkins Act and the Colorado Technical Act. This position will require travel to school districts and colleges throughout the State of Colorado, and reports to the Audit Manager.

The Internal Auditor-Grants will perform reviews of grant subrecipients by reviewing expenditures reimbursed by the grant to determine whether they are valid expenditures of the program. The Internal Auditor-Grants will perform research of federal, state and CCCS policies and procedures to perform test work and to advise on compliance issues. In addition, this position will document the results of these reviews and prepare a written report providing feedback to the subrecipient. Results will be delivered to multiple levels of management within the subrecipient, verbally and in writing. Follow-up activity will also be performed as appropriate, to determine whether corrections are implemented.

Requirements:

Minimum Educational Requirements and Substitution (if appropriate)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Audit/Accounting, Public Policy or related area.

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook or similar computer related applications.

  • A strong aptitude for analytical thinking and problem solving.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Effective communication skills including verbal and written.

  • Self-initiative and self-motivation? work ethic to work independently as well as working effectively as part of an audit team

Necessary Requirement

  • Must possess a current valid Colorado driver's license or obtain one within 90 days of employment. The position requires approximately 25% travel outside of the Denver Metro area within Colorado.

Supplemental Information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year experience auditing or related field.

  • Previous experience with federal grant compliance (i.e. A-133 audits).

  • Experience with state or local government or Higher Education.

  • Experience researching federal or state guidance and analyzing policies and other documentation to evaluate compliance.

  • The ability to maintain effective working relationships? conflict resolution.
