The Senior DBAworks with external and internal customers and colleagues to provide projectand operational support in compliance with Service Level Agreements andproject schedules while also complying with standards, processes,procedures and policies. Typical duties/responsibilities for engineering may include, but are notlimited to the following: * Operational management of internal and customer database systems in thefollowing key areas: * Event Management. * Automation of housekeeping jobs. * Data archival. * Resource capacity planning and ongoing management. * Patch Management. * Security Management. * Account Management. * Standards development and compliance. * Review vendor bulletins and respond to alerts and notifications for systemenhancements or corrections. * Database and data refreshes. * Incident management. * Customer business reporting. * Database and data migrations. * Database transitions. * Disaster recovery testing. * Backup Management. * Asset Management. * Develop custom SQL reports. * Plan, recommend and action upgrade strategies. * Documentation of policies, procedures, standards and work instructions. * Provide technical leadership, ownership and coordination of probleminvestigations in geographically dispersed locations and operational supportand project consultancy capacities. * Development of automation tools for improvement in operational efficiency. * Systems implementation. * Review and evaluate new and emerging technologies. * Provide detailed technical reports to management and customer audiences. * Development of technical design and operational support documentation. * The position has no direct reports. * Available in on call and standby capacities to provide escalationassistance where required. * May be required for planned out of hours support work from time to time. * High level of written and verbal proficiency in English is essential.Proficient in Spanish is desirable. Requirements: Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor Degree and 8 years of experience in Oracle DatabaseAdministration in large commercial environments. Alternatively this position could be staffed at a higher level with thefollowing qualifications: * Bachelor Degree and 12 years of experience in Oracle DatabaseAdministration in large commercial environments. Must have authorization to work in the US without the need for sponsorshipnow or in the future Preferred Qualification: * Strong experience with SQL Server database administration an advantage. * Skilled in Perl and UNIX shell scripting. * Experience with Puppet automation an advantage. * Technical consulting experience. * Some administrator level experience in UNIX. * IT degree from a recognized institution. * Industry certifications - Oracle OCP, Oracle OCM, Microsoft SQL 2005 -2016 etc. * Industry standards - ITIL, PRINCE2, etc. * Ability to provide detailed Oracle trace and performance reportinganalysis. * High level knowledge of Oracle's internal mechanisms. * Ability to design, implement, configure and tune a database to performoptimally with the operating system, hardware, network, disk managementsystems and application. * Expert level experience and knowledge in the following: Oracle 9i,10g, 11g, 12c, Enterprise, Standard and Standard Edition One versions. * Experience with Oracle Data guard Physical and Logical Standby databasemethodologies. * Coaching and m
