VMware Senior Member of Technical Staff (Software Build) - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Denver, Colorado

Job Role and Responsibility
The VMware R&D Open Source and Security (RDOSS) team is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff. RDOSS is an engineering group within the VMware Engineering Services (VES) organization which provides compelling, innovative, scalable, and seamless engineering services to all of VMware R&D. The team is geographically distributed with team members in the United States, China, India, and Bulgaria. This role is fully remote and can be done anywhere in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington.
As a software build engineer, you'll use Open Source Software to provide Common Language Runtime environments for VMware Products and Services. You'll develop systems, strategies, and automation to reduce toil when ensuring compliance requirements are met with these deliverables such as those required for FedRamp, including FIPS requirements.
Build FIPS compliant language runtimes suitable for use across R&D.
Develop container images consisting of purpose built, and general language runtime environments per R&D requirements (and automate it).
Design and Develop automation.
Provide documented guidelines, best-practices, and support.
Triage and troubleshoot live issues to resolution with attention to detail and optimization.
5+ years of industry experience in similar roles.
BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
Competence with the common and emerging build technologies such as Make, Bash, Maven, Visual Studio, Bazel, etc.
Deep Experience with one or more continuous integration systems such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Circle, Concourse, etc.
Extensive knowledge with building packages under various Operating Systems, such as Windows, Linux and MacOS.
Deep understanding with building and working with container images.
Excellent programming skills with proficiency in either Python, Go, C, or Java.
Excellent written and verbal communication, and organization skills.
Familiarity with agile development processes.
Previous experience with complex build toolchains, and cross compilation.
A deep understanding of FIPS certification requirements.
Open Source development experience rooted in community engagement and discussion.
For positions located in Colorado: The base salary range is Min $105000 - $179000. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
