Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Guiding the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices, values and owns ceremonies.

  • Assessing the Scrum maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.

  • Removing impediments, coaching the team to remove impediments.

  • Facilitating getting the work done by influencing others.

  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.

  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.

  • Managing team metrics.

  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially on refining and maintaining the product backlog.

A successful Scrum Master will have the following:

  • Certified Scrum Master – C.S.M., or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5 or more years of Agile software development experience.

  • Ability to manage projects spanning multiple products and geographies.
