VMware Sr Solutions Marketing Manager, Intrinsic Security in Denver, Colorado

The Senior Solutions Marketing Manager, Intrinsic Security will be responsible for driving the messaging strategy and customer-facing content and for VMware’s security solutions. Solutions marketing managers have a clear understanding of their markets and buyers, know the key drivers of their business, and take responsibility for the overall narrative and pipeline generation of the solution in the marketplace. The ideal candidate is an experienced security marketer with expertise in solution- and corporate-level positioning & messaging as well as a wide range of executive and content marketing programs. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires product domain knowledge across VMware’s Security product portfolios, and close collaboration with our BU product marketing counterparts, product development organization, and our broader market team. In partnership with the Intrinsic Security GTM Strategy team, you will be the driving force behind the marketing-contributed pipeline and bookings of several solutions in VMware’s security portfolio.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop succinct and compelling positioning, messaging and value propositions in support of VMware’s security software portfolio

  • Work cross-functionally across VMware security business units and Franchise Marketing teams to manage VMware’s security message in the market and to identify compelling cross-solution security use cases that benefit our customers

  • Develop compelling content across the customer journey for security buyer personas (reports, white papers, e-books, solution briefs, videos, executive presentations, case studies, etc)

  • Be the security SME on our marketing team working across demand generation campaign teams to create an integrated content framework tailored by key security personas, verticals and use cases

  • Partner closely with senior leadership, product marketing and sales leadership to understand conceptual ideas, product innovations, competitive positioning

  • Know the customer. Have close relationships with important customers and be able to evangelize how our products have been successful in different customer scenarios

  • Work with sales to understand the sales cycle such as buyer personas, sales motions and adoption barriers

  • Ensure messaging and content adoption across multiple marketing & GTM channels and programs (events, VBC, field, partners, digital, alliances, sales, channel partners, web, social media etc.)

  • In partnership with the Security GTM Strategy team, produce a comprehensive campaign playbook that will align to the solution-level messaging and will be used by the "Demand Center of Excellence," field teams, brand and event teams to execute campaigns in-market

  • Lead information gathering from key industry figures, competitive intelligence resources and active solution customers; Leverage research (through questionnaires/surveys) to drive informed content creation. You will collaborate with the BU marketing teams on this

  • Seek new and innovative methods for displaying content and amplifying key messages through the demand team

  • Partner with the Public Relations, Communications, Demand Generation and Product Marketing teams to drive content planning and provide strategic counsel for major events and milestones

Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of experience in product and/or solutions marketing, at least 3 years in the security market

  • Passionate about the security market and up-to-speed with the latest market trends

  • Knowledge of many (bonus points for all) key security personas (C-level: CIO, CISO; VP-level: VP of InfoSec, VP of Infrastructure/Cloud, Practitioner-level: DevOps, SecOps, Threat Analyst, Threat Hunter, Security Architects)

  • Security domain knowledge in at least 3 of the following markets: Endpoint Security, Workload Security, Cloud Security, Network Security, Workspace Security, XDR, Threat Intelligence

  • Be a good storyteller. Have the ability to communicate that story verbally and in writing. Be able to translate complex security technical concepts into business benefits that resonate with customers

  • Strong analytical, presentation, cross-functional leadership skills

  • The ideal candidate possesses a blend of marketing, business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality in an emerging or established market
