Our commitment to serving customers and exceeding theirexpectationsThe Advanced Engineering department resides in the Charter TechnicalEngineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO and oversees thedesign and architecture of Charter s multi-billion dollar networkinfrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integratetechnologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short,medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technologyplan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical,Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access. JOB SUMMARY Responsible for developing and supporting video delivery engineeringactivities with a focus on VOD. The areas of work include content ingest,distribution, ad insertion, and streaming aspects associated with multiplevideo back offices. Works with vendors, product, operation, lab teamsand advises team leaders.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Principal Engineer responsible forintegrating, testing and qualifying new products and systems for videocontent ingest, storage, ad insertion, and streaming that work in acentralized way across a network-based, modular platform. Duties include working with a team of advanced engineers whomsupport the development, integration, test, and troubleshooting ofvarious technologies which support Charter s digital headend systems, IPnetworks, video on demand (VOD) for set-top/mobile/web videodelivery for production deployment and engineering labs. Must have working knowledge in the following areas: File VideoWorkflow, Content Management Systems (CMS), Metadata, OTT, VideoEncoding, CDN, IP networking, Session/Resource Management, StreamControl and multiscreen video. Must be familiar with one or more of the Video Back Offices likeArris CMM, Ericsson MDMS, Charter MBO deployed with CDNs, Cisco andArris Head-ends etc. Support the testing of new technologies and provide implementationand design documentation. Use network design software like Visio and documentprocedures using tools such as Jira and Confluence. Strong inquisitive nature and ability to work well with vendors andinternal stakeholders to qualify solutions in production deployment andengineering labs. Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, ProjectManagement, Content and Operations teams. The candidate should have software development process experienceto meet occasional needs for coding test harnesses, troubleshooting tools etc. Should have working knowledge with modern service delivery networks HFC, IP Networking, DOCSIS, Transport, infrastructure monitoringsolutions (ELK, Splunk, Nagios), MPEG, VOD protocols like CableLabs, ISA, DSM-CC, LSCP, RTSP etc.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Ability to read, write and speak the English language tocommunicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on thephone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, andprofessional manner Knowledge in TCP/IP, OSI Model, network design,architecture, topology, protocols, switching, routing, security andload balanc Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment andability to learn new technology quicklyEDUCATION Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relatedfield or related work experience Related Work Experience Number Of Years Engineering work experience 3-8 Project management work experience0-2PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge
