Research Scientists are no exception, and they excelat developing state-of-the-art algorithms and software prototypes that solvereal-world scientific and engineering problems. By participating in smallresearch teams, you have the opportunity to be a part of cutting edgeresearch that makes a difference in real life problems.Research Scientists support our growing programs in informationscience and work on projects that carry varying responsibilities,including, but not limited to, the following:Work Activities Develop state-of-the-art algorithms in information science; Develop prototype software to demonstrate and evaluate algorithmsolutions; Evaluate and document algorithm design and performance; Prepare technical reports with theoretical developments andexperimental results.Requirements M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied orComputational Mathematics, Controls and Dynamical Systems, Statistics andProbability, or related technical discipline. Course work with a record of academic excellence or demonstratedresearch/experience in three of the following four areas:o Probability, statistics, and random processes;o Applied mathematics: differential equations, linear algebra,numerical analysis including numerical linear algebra, and continuous ordiscrete optimization;o Electrical Engineering: controls, estimation theory, informationtheory, digital signal processing, and machine learning.o Scientific computing: algorithm prototyping and implementation inMATLAB, Python, C++, or JAVA. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with theability to clearly communicate technical and programmatic details to bothcolleagues and customers.Because of the nature of the work performed by our company, all applicantsmustbe capable of obtaining a U.S. Security Clearance. At a minimum, candidatesmust have U.S. citizenship and demonstrate a trustworthy background (e.g.,clean criminal record, reasonable credit, no use of illegal drugs, etc).
