Position Summary:- The Field Technician is primarily responsible for performing field activities at cell sites in support of our projects. Job responsibilities include the installation and commissioning of Wireless and Telecommunications systems including pre-wiring, terminating, final equipment installation, battery testing, preventative maintenance, battery and equipment installation, site survey, quality control, power and other site audits.-

Duties and Responsibilities: -The essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position are as follows:

  • Responsible for installing equipment, running and pulling cable, programming and calibrating equipment while adhering to codes, regulations and standards.

  • Prepares for installations, upgrades, repairs and disconnects by reviewing work orders, gathering equipment, supplies and tools and coordinating schedules with customers.

  • Evaluates site for correct functionality and optimal performance

  • Identifies and shares potential process improvements and recommends them to Senior Technicians and/or management for consideration.

  • Provides input on process improvements related to maintenance and repair activities.

  • Assists in creation of job aids, scopes of work, method/statement of procedure, and helpful tools working closely with a Senior Technician.

  • Use of hand and power tools in both new construction and finished residential and commercial environments.

  • Creation of daily work reports.

  • Basic hardware configuration and programming.

  • Problem solving, troubleshooting, and creative thinking.

  • Other duties as identified and assigned.

Competencies, Education, and Experience:

  • Minimum high school diploma required (Associate-s degree in computer science or related discipline OR graduation from an accredited technical school is strongly preferred.)

  • Basic understanding of networking, design and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to understand and isolate physical layer problems.

  • Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and demonstrated ability to learn other software as necessary.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background and motor vehicle check and drug screen.

  • OSHA 10 certification

  • Fiber and Ethernet (Standards, installation)

  • Knowledge of DC power

  • MEI; 7705 SIAD installation & integration (ACAT)

  • UMTS and GMS and AT&T standards knowledge (LSO trained)

  • FDP & LEC router knowledge, Cisco installation experience

  • Ability to troubleshoot

Travel:- This position is generally expected to require overnight travel. The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office environment and is an outdoor construction or service environment with the ability to work in adverse weather conditions (extreme heat or cold) may be conducted during daylight and nighttime hours.- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must put on and use personal protective, fall prevention, and fall arrest equipment and will frequently sit talk or hear, and will occasionally stoop, kneel, and with or use hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. This position requires climbs of up to 100 to 400 feet.- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.- Hazards include working at heights, varying weather conditions, near RF emitting equipment, and using some heavy machinery (man lifts or scissor lifts).- This position may require entry into confined spaces.- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.- When possible, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
