This position requires a highly motivated team player with both experience and genuine passion for proactively telling the story of agriculture through social and digital platforms. Responsible for engaging with key stakeholders including; team members, farm partners, consumers, and community.

S/he will function at the strategic development, curation and execution levels, collaborating with internal brand marketing, PR/corporate communications and HR personnel, as well as external marketing agencies and media. Collaborate to develop and deliver social/digital media strategies, content, and reporting and insights that holistically support critical internal and external marketing and communications objectives.



  • Support development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy that defines how social media marketing techniques will be applied to increase visibility and engagement across Pilgrim’s, our brands and products.

  • Manage the development and enforcement of organization-wide social media management standards, policies and rules of engagement.

  • Define key performance indicators and implement enterprise level measurement, analytics, and reporting methods to gauge success.

  • Mentor and support training efforts to professionals throughout the organization on best practices for creating, managing, monitoring, and developing content for social networks to maintain a cohesive social media strategy.

  • Explore and identify ways to integrate social media into business strategies, partnerships and marketing campaigns.

  • Apply marketing research and development methods to learn and understand emerging trends and technologies and to communicate this knowledge clearly and concisely.

  • Stay up-to-date with new digital technologies and social media best practices. Be a thought leader.


  • Manage presence in social networking sites including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed.

  • Work with agency partners to ensure social media tools (e. FB connect, Sharing buttons) are kept up-to-date.

  • Manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities. Duties include online advocacy, writing editorial, community-outreach efforts, promotions, etc.

  • Manage a blogger outreach program and build an active brand ambassador network to spread the word about Pilgrim’s, our brands and products.

  • Regularly insights reporting to HR, Brand Marketing, Product Marketing and Sales teams, to help them evolve their strategies in a timely fashion.

  • Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications.


  • Prepare content for websites/e-newsletters/consumer panel (including features, advertising copy, database content, links, FAQs, studies, etc.)—updating and maintaining time-sensitive material as required.

  • Prepare content for distribution as SMS (short message services) messages.

  • Prepare scripts for audio voiceovers, for downloading from the site or distribution as ‘podcasts’.

  • Specify the multimedia content needed to support or work alongside textual content. Will provide direction and needs to Interactive Content & Design Specialist to locate and select appropriate, existing multimedia content, including still images, animations, music and video or working with multimedia specialists to create new multimedia content.

  • Edit copy received from additional content contributors.

  • Clear copyright for the use of any existing content.

  • Archive and backup content (where this is not automatic).

  • Ensure brand accuracy and messaging consistency.


  • Serve as a member of the crisis communications response team to develop tools t\hat enable fast, online content updates in the event of an emergency or crisis situation (i.e. product recall).

  • Supports the development and execution of escalation procedures for company and brand social sites.


  • 2-3 years of related experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required

  • Proven work experience as a social media specialist or social media manager, with hands-on experience using social media for corporate/brand awareness

  • Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing

  • Discretion to identify threats and opportunities in user generated content

  • An ability to identify target audience preferences and build content to meet them

  • Highly capable project manager with excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills

  • Outstanding written /verbal communication skills, with a good command of English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation

  • Good proofreading skills, attention to detail is a must

  • Self-starter, flexible, results-driven, quick-learning personality that easily adapts to change

  • Ability to work effectively and under pressure with a wide array of personalities and management styles including web owners, other content providers, agency partners, etc.

  • Appropriately screen and handle confidential and sensitive information

  • Understands social/digital media and proficient in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

  • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics, and knowledge of basic keyword research (i.e. ability to name /tag posts based on research)

  • Familiar with Meltwater and social monitoring platforms. Making insights actionable.
