JOB SCOPE:Charter is proud to have a network that provides service to millions of usersacross the country.The Network Operations team is responsible for the implementation of approvednetwork architecture and designs. The Network Engineer IV- Optical leads inthe planning, forecasting, implementation and identification of resourcerequirements for network systems of high complexity. As a member of theteam, you will design and establish network enhancements while followingcorporate standards. You will be sought after for recommendations forimprovement and lead in staff development efforts.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Proactively and consistently support all efforts to simplify andenhance the customer experience. * Lead network planning, network architecture design and engineering. * Integrates communication architectures, topologies, hardware,software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into completenetwork configurations. * Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution. * Leads in the development and documentation of technical standards andimplements approved methods of procedure. * Designs corporate standards and develops network enhancements * Works on one or more projects as a team leader. * Provides tier support across organizations. * Acts as a mentor to junior staff * Knows, understands and follows company policy. * Performs other duties as requested by supervisor. * Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federalregulations, as applicable.BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, orrelated field or equivalent work experience * Minimum four (4) years Data network experience - Cisco and/or Juniper.ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Experience in managing optical transport platforms service gateways(i.e. Cisco ONS, Infinera DTN / DTNx / Flex, Ciena). * Experience with DWDM * Experience with scripting and automation (Python, SQL) * Solid knowledge of related industry specifications and standardsIEEE, ANSI, Physical Media (Multimode Fiber, Singlemode Fiber,UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing, Ethernet and transporttechnologies and protocols * Advanced knowledge in network design, network architecture,protocols and network topology.
