Merrick & Company is looking for an experienced Proposal Coordinator to support Business Development efforts in our Greenwood Village, CO, office.

Job Description

Desired experience includes writing copy, editing, and proofreading; researching internal documents to aid in creation of proposals, project descriptions, and resumes; maintaining Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and ability to obtain applicable data from the system; proficiency with PC-based software including advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign; and competency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or business is preferred. Experience in proposal strategy and preparation for the architecture/engineering industry is preferred.

The successful candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude, who possesses excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in teams with a wide range of personalities. The candidate will work with BD leaders and capture managers to create winning proposal content and implement the win strategy, while coordinating multiple projects. The successful candidate must be able to think critically about the proposal document and evaluate how effectively the win strategy is communicated throughout. Must be self-motivated, able to take initiative, work independently, and carry projects through to successful completion. Must also be reliable, detail oriented, able to follow established formats and procedures, meet expectations for attendance and punctuality, and perform well under deadline pressure, while working with multiple levels of internal staff and teaming partners. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multiple personalities effectively and diplomatically is required. Occasionally work outside of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, may be required as deadlines demand. Assigned to our Greenwood Village, Colorado, office, the position also will support other Merrick offices remotely.

Scope/Key Responsibilities

The proposal coordinator researches, writes, edits, proofreads, and produces proposals, statements of qualifications, resumes, and project descriptions in compliance with various requirements, schedules, and budgets. Primary responsibilities include development of effective and competitive proposal concepts; optimizing the written and graphic content mix, while ensuring accuracy and quality; maintaining CRM; and upholding company branding standards. Coordination is frequently required with staff graphic artists for proposal graphics. Other responsibilities include preparing for and participating in kickoff meetings and strategy sessions, coordinating with external teammates, leading and capturing proposal review meetings and recovery, and researching information for and maintaining the marketing database. Merrick submittals and proposals are prepared for both private and government clients (including SF330).

Successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while coordinating multiple projects and multiple deadlines. The right Proposal Coordinator candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic about the sales process, willing to learn, and willing to try new things.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Experience in the architecture/engineering industry is preferred

  • Three (3) years of working experience as a proposal coordinator preferred

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Science strongly preferred

  • Must have strong skills in writing, editing, and proofreading

  • Must have proficiency with PC-based software, including advanced skills in Microsoft Word

  • Must have competency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Must have experience with Adobe InDesign

  • Experience with Cosential is a plus

  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship
