Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking a Proposal Application Engineer – Modular Solutions to join our team. This position is based out of our office in any of these locations: Moon TWP, PA, Warrendale, PA, Raleigh, NC, Appleton, WI, South Milwaukee, WI, Arden, NC, Fayetteville, NC, Greenwood, SC, Waukesha, WI, Menomonee Falls, WI, Houston, TC, Littleton, CO or Lafayette, CO.

Eaton’s Modular Solutions Program is a dynamic and growing segment with the larger EESS organization. The Modular Solutions Program includes Modular Integrated Transportable Substations (MITS) and low voltage critical (UPS-centric) and non-critical enclosures & skids. As Eaton looks to grow this segment, the Modular Solutions Product Line has an opening for a Proposal Application Engineer – Modular Solutions to develop proposals to support Modular Skid Based solutions.
This position will be the technical lead for assigned opportunities during proposal stage as well hand off and support during the engineering design phase of a customer order.

Skills and responsibilities include:
Interpret project specifications and provide a detailed specification response with support from lead application engineers, center of excellence engineers; assist Sales with technical proposals/bid packages.
Respond to requests from Project Operations Managers, NAS Sales, Utility / Cooper & Other Reps, Channel Partners, EESS Market Segment Managers (Utility, Industrial, Government, Commercial)
Lead and create proposals for projects and provide input to Pricing Approvals and Deal Strategy Reviews for projects that meet the criteria (e.g. order value, complexity).
Detailed technical and commercial proposal writing
Support proposals on a national level.
Work evenings or weekends to satisfy Bid-Due-Dates.
Interface with vendors and purchasing team on requesting quotes. Develop vendor requirements as part of RFQ to vendors. Review pricing and technical response of vendors to ensure scope of supply is well defined and adequately addressed in bid.
In the absence of firm customer specifications or design, be able to perform engineering system design for customized modular solutions to include UPS systems, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, and other electrical infrastructure equipment as required to meet basic customer requirements. Equipment can be comprised on Eaton, Legacy Cooper and third party components
Contribute standardized proposals templates and develop and share pricing or other tools to improve proposal efficiency
Interface with Project Execution team for system applications and order summary information.
Support technical presentations and development of new specifications with customer technical staff.
Provide technical assistance (including warranty request) after order receipt
Lead the technical execution of assigned projects in partnership with the assigned Project Manager for project hand-off and technical support during the project.
Contribute to Modular Solutions technology roadmap
Contribute feedback on form, fit, function of proposed designs in design reviews

Qualifications
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of (5) years of electrical industry application engineering or proposal development experience
Must reside within 50 miles of work location(s) listed on this posting. No relocation is being offered for this role.
Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor and equipment vendor work scopes; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance; experience with risk evaluation and risk management.
Experience providing front line support for sales and negotiation questions, project management, and commercial issues.
Experience providing technical support to product sales teams
Position Criteria:
Deep knowledge and understanding of the Electrical and services industry, products and solutions.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships and resolve complaints.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to be flexible to adjust to changing project conditions
Strong computer skills including basic Autocad or other drawing tools
Moderate to advanced knowledge of Eaton’s BidMan tools
Pro-active at solving issues before becoming problems
Knowledgeable with NEC (National Electrical Code) and knowledge how to seek out utility requirements
Electrical Systems focus with Power Distribution Equipment including UPS systems
Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $84,720 - $116,490 a year. Eligible for a performance-based Sales Incentive Plan with a target at 15% of base.
