Job Summary

CenturyLink’s internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study. Interns within the Product Development and Technology department will be challenged to apply their knowledge gained in the classroom to real world problems. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience working on real world Innovation Initiatives for a Fortune 200 company. This position will allow students to utilize their talents and abilities to innovate on products that are tied to active projects at CenturyLink.


Job Description

Develop python and java modules for automation

  • Deploy Ansible scripts to the target under automation

  • Test/validate develop modules and software for git tree commits

  • Configure lab IP network infrastructure for certification

  • Deploy tool chain/clients for different SDN/NFV/VNF modules

  • Create telemetry clients for Container Network Functions (CNF)

  • Core Reviews and Peer Programming with DevOps lead

Qualifications

Preferred Qualification

  • Curious, Methodical, Analytical

  • Willing to FAIL (First Attempt In Learning) fast

  • Perform research/homework in advance before work

  • Focus and have grit/determination to solve problems

Intimately familiar with Virtualization and HyperVisor technologies

  • Software Development in C, C++, Objective C, Python, PHP, JavaScript

  • Unix/Linux/FreeBSD Operating Systems experience including Systems Administration

  • OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes and other Cloud technologies

  • Familiar with IP Networking, Switching and Systems Admin duties

• Previous internship/work experience within the IT field

• Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines

• Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented

• Capable of multi-tasking efficiently

• Quick learner and not afraid to work with new technology

• Professional attitude

Minimum Requirements:

• Classification: Graduate status by start of internship

• Pursing a Master’s degree in an IT-related degree program such as CIS or Computer Science/Engineering

• Currently enrolled at a 4-year accredited College or University

• 3.0 or above cumulative GPA

• must have transportation to/from work daily
