Our Opportunity:

The Business Analyst will be a part of the Brokerage Product Services Platform Strategy and Support Team that is responsible for facilitating the modernization and maintaining the viability of Schwab systems that support the Mutual Fund and Alternative Investment Platforms. The team leverages its business and technical expertise in partnership with technology and business stakeholders to implement a strategic vision for the platform including participation in design, requirements development, prioritization, development, testing, and certification activities.

What you’ll do:

The Business Analyst will assist the Product Owner in several key tasks that include, but not limited to, the below items. These tasks will specifically be in support of the Billing Modernization Effort which includes operational applications, processes, and the various downstream interfaces that are dependent on those systems and processes.

  • Work with business partners to understand business processes, process flows, business needs and analyze pain points, and identify viable solutions

  • Develop ‘As Is’ knowledge of platform systems and help define ‘To Be’ system solutions and flows

  • Partner with cross-functional business and technology teams to create process models and user epics/stories and/or initial use case survey/use cases

  • Business Analysts will solicit, document, and manage business requirements and wireframes

  • Advocate of efficient work flow and ensuring that process flows match the way people actually work, creating useful systems that people want to work with, and work to guide the creation of intuitive and natural interfaces

  • Analyzes complex business problems and issues using data and information from internal and external sources

  • Identify and define attributes, data elements, services and features required to support the platform systems

  • User Acceptance Testing planning and production release checkout

  • Investigates and validates reported issues to assess risk and exposure and ultimately provide input on prioritization

  • Assist in vision, roadmap for system development, and annual business plans and proposals

  • Understand technical dependencies within systems that support the platform’s functionality

  • Attend daily scrums, sprint planning, sprint review and sprint retrospective meetings

  • Document product features for internal and external purposes

  • Training business users on new product features

What you have:

  • 7-10 years of business analyst experience; preferably in mutual funds and/or Alternative Investments

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience required

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio and other MS Office Products and applications required to perform daily implementation functions

  • SQL experience a plus

  • Independence and leadership qualities that apply appropriate discretion and judgement

  • Collaborative and leadership approach to solving for systems or service gaps; ability to internally represent the issues and challenges to business owners and stakeholders; and ability to manage stakeholder expectations and provide superior follow-up and prioritization

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skill set

  • Flexibility, time management, and good decision making skills when dealing with multiple tasks, changing priorities, varying stakeholder styles, and project complexities

  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to write business requirements, including user stories, use case development and work flow documentation

  • Experience in the various facets of testing: test documentation; execution; and supporting others through the testing life cycle

  • Understand the value of listening to client needs and have the ability to understand the deeper underlying problem that needs to be addressed

  • Prior working knowledge of JIRA or any related Scrum tools preferred

  • Able to garner respect from your Scrum team(s), lead and demonstrate value-add principles, and willing and able to get your hands dirty to get the job done

  • Desire and ability to bring disclosure and transparency to the Scrum team and grow trust between the business and development

  • Able to facilitate discussion of issues and different approaches and alternatives, and effectively resolve issues in a timely manner

  • Cultivates productive working relationships within the team, cross domains as well as system vendors

  • A thorough understanding, experience, and appreciation for the Agile values and principles

  • Strong grasp of software development and technology

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with internal and external entities.
