Maxar is currently seeking an experienced Product Owner (PO) to join our RAster Products Inovation and Delivery (RAPID) group. Within our Agile hierarchy of Epics, Capabilities, Features, and User Stories, RAPID PO’s are responsible for taking ownership of their scrum team’s backlog, the priority for each of its user stories, and a rapidly developing an ownership of the domain in which the team works. You will take direct responsibility for multiple features that are to be addressed by their scrum team.
Fully support the Agile Software Development Life Cycle process used to facilitate system baseline changes, taking ownership of deliverables expected from customer organizations
Ensure quality by managing service-level requirements, inspecting completed work, and verifying work to ensure the correct right functionality is implemented.
Work directly with other product owners, system engineers, program managers, developers, testers, and customers to define technical user stories, features, and domain roadmaps.
Understand and often create Functional Flows, with the ability to frame all requirements inside those flows.
Work directly with an offsite 3rd party software development scrum teams, as well as with the other RAPID Train scrum teams.
Maintain as-built design artifacts for system services to ensure engineering models and documentation remain current.
Endeaver to continually learn about our evolving complex system - toward becoming a Subject Matter Expert.
Make contributions to the forward-looking vision of the RAPID architecture roadmap.
Work with multidisciplinary teams, take ownership of deliverables, and drive assigned tasks to completion.
Lead design sessions with internal clients - from end users to the back office, with an emphasis on the Ground Station’s geospatial production segment.
Manage client expectations to ensure realistic timetables and deliverables, and then exceed those expectations.
Pursue and resolve project challenges, and product-related issues independently.
Willing to take on other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, System Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of related engineering or operations experience with increasing responsibilities.
Must have some AWS or other cloud-based operations experience
Working knowledge of Agile development principles and leading practices
Proficiency with GIS fundamentals, concepts, and related COTS frameworks such as SOCET/GXP, ENVI, PCI, Esri/ArcGIS, etc.
Previous experience in a complex product industry
Experience with implementing software security standards
System performance measuring and tuning experience
Working knowledge of multiple development methodologies (Kanban, Spiral, Scrum/Agile)
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
Service Oriented Architecture experience
Software development, test, and/or integration experience
