POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a talented Product Applications Manager to assist in driving our Open Innovation (OI) growth initiative within the Product Planning & New Ventures group. This position will be primarily focused on assessing and supporting the technical aspect of our OI commercial pilots. The Product Application Manager reports to the Business Unit Manager – Open Innovation, and actively works with Product Managers, R&D, Development Partners, Marketing, Sales and Customers in order to ensure that partner’s products address valuable customer problems as well as deliver on performance expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Is the primary technical point of contact during OI partnership assessment, development and pilot execution * Develops plan and leads execution of field testing for performance validation of OI’s products and applications, including but not limited to identifying representative international test sites, securing participation of sales reps and customers, analyzing test data, obtaining customer feedback and prioritizing product improvement opportunities. * Identifies gaps in product performance to customer application requirements and proactively engage OI partners to address these gaps. * Drives a sense of urgency and accountability to project timelines with internal stakeholders and OI Partners, while maintaining high quality standards and meeting intent of all applicable OI DDS Tollgate deliverables. * As the OI technical lead for assigned OI products, supports sales team driving pilot execution, provides technical input for customer documentation, service manuals and internal training to prepare for OI Pilots. If product moves to global launch, it supports transition to BU with final product ownership. * Evaluates OI partner product fit within Hach’s Sales and Service Organization * Identifies and evaluates new trends and growth opportunities by developing and leveraging relationships with the sales and service organization, visiting with key customers, following industry/opinion leaders and regulatory bodies, and utilizing other VOC collection / interpretation processes.

Qualification
QUALIFICATIONS: * BS or BA in Engineering or the Sciences required. * 5 years in a technical sales/ support, product development, or engineering function in the water analytical space * Demonstrated ability to effectively work with external customers and internal stakeholders. * Demonstrated ability to translate analytical thinking to insights and action, and present complex or difficult messages clearly and persuasively. * Demonstrated planning, organization and multi-tasking skills to meet both long-term project deliverables and short-term responsibilities. * Proven track record of approaching work with a sense of urgency and personal ownership. * Working knowledge of phase-gate new product development processes. * International experience and intercultural agility. * Willingness to travel up to 25% in testing phases of product development cycle.
