About the Position: The Powered Support Systems Mechanic is a member Public Works Division, within the Directorate of Base Operations. This position troubleshoots, performs major repairs, overhauls and maintains a variety of powered support equipment such as diesel power plants e.g. 0.5 kw to 100 kw, gasoline powered auxiliary generators, heavy duty air compressors, fixed and portable pumping units, etc.
Apply knowledge of mechanical makeups to operate powered support systems such as electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic alongside others.
Complete work orders to ensure requested work is being completed as directed.
Operate powered support equipment to perform work assignments.
Utilize required tools for specified jobs to ensure correct materials are being used.
Review technical materials such as technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics and similar guides covering assembly instructions to completed assigned tasks.
Conduct diagnostic inspections on powered support systems to evaluate operational function of equipment is working correctly.
Monitor refurbishment of powered support system repairs to ensure maintenance is completed correctly.
Order materials required to complete on-going projects.
Lead troubleshoot repairs work such as electrical or transistorized systems to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
