Maxar is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in Westminster, CO. Our team works collaboratively to solve complex problems and to ensure our large-scale, distributed services run optimally for the needs of our customers. We are a team of skilled engineers and testers with diverse backgrounds. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying functional capabilities of the Maxar Ground System including: core image processing systems, interfaces with business systems, and web services initiatives. This is an opportunity to work in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) organization on a micro-service architecture.   • This is a development position within the product engineering group, on an agile scrum team.

  • As domain knowledge is acquired, candidate will be one of up to eight team members on an agile scrum team, and thus will be responsible for:

  • Implementing software solutions based on high level design specifications provided by either an architect, systems engineer, or a senior team lead. Development activities can include creating detailed designs, coding software solutions in new or existing applications, and/or researching or coding prototypes as part of a design spike.

  • Following implementation guidance from senior developers within the team.

  • Foster and support the on-going growth and practices of agile development within the organization.

  • Provide Tier-3 level support of the ground software system.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing and able to obtain a US Government security clearance

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science preferred)

  • Requires 2+ years of experience programming in Java or a related language

  • Experience with

  • Unix/Linux

  • Java frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, J2EE)

  • micro-service applications


  • PostGIS spatial databases

  • Maven

  • Agile software development lifecycle experience

  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to multitask

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A math or physics focused minor or major

  • Experience with scalability frameworks Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, AWS Batch

  • 1+ years of building and supporting applications in AWS

  • AWS certification

  • Working within SAFe agile framework

  • Experience within the Space Industry

  • Experience building monitoring and alerting in micro-service architecture
